Problems with conceiving are extremely common; approximately 1 in 6 couples in the UK will have difficulties starting a family. Except for pregnancy it is the most likely reason for a 20-45 year old woman to visit her G.P.

For the many of the couples that we see there has been a delay in conceiving. It is unusual to find something that will totally prevent pregnancy. There are literally hundreds of reasons why starting a family can be delayed. The ONLY way of knowing exactly what is happening for you, is to ask you literally dozens of questions. Any little tiny nugget of essential information you tell us, can help us to work out which area to focus on. Any one of these essential facts, or a combination of these, can have a very powereful influence on your fertility. The longer we have worked in this field the more we have realised it is not just a matter of the mechanics of conception, there is far more to it than that. We need to spend time with you, looking at your unique life circumstances and identifying these often previously unrecognised facts, for us to accurately give you the very best advice & information.

We are able to exclude many health problems & carry out some simple fertility checks, to enable you to have greater peace of mind. Tests available include screens for silent problems such as chlamydia, diabetes & urinary tract infection. We will calculate your height, weight, body mass index & blood pressure. We can also assess ovulation, semen analysis, & carry out tests that give us an indication of the number & quality of eggs in the ovary. An accredited hospital laboratory performs all of the tests that cannot be carried out at your consultation.

From advice and treatment we have given, 3000 babies have been born to couples who had previously been struggling to conceive.

Your Consultation

Many G.P's in Cambridgeshire know us, and we would be happy to liase with your Doctor if requested. Our knowledge & experience can also point you in the right direction if any general health problems are identified, or advise on whether earlier referral to a fertility clinic is necessary. 

From working in units licensed & inspected annually by the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority, we know the absolute need for a highly confidential service. 

We are happy to see you as a couple or individually, and address all the questions & concerns you may have. We operate from consulting rooms at a city based G.P. surgery. 

There are different levels of service depending on what you need, ranging from a postal questionaire, or telephone consultation, through to an in depth discussion in person. Please ask for a copy of our fees.
